Pea Pilau

Serves 4

What you need:

300 gm Kohinoor Gold Basmati Rice, washed, soaked in water for 10 mins, drained.

200 gm  Green Peas, shelled

2 tbsp / 30gm  Refined Oil/ Butter Ghee

1 tsp / 2gm   Garam Masala

120 gm Onions, sliced and fried until golden brown.

Salt to Taste

 

What you do:

Heat the oil/butter ghee in a wok; add the cumin seeds. When they crackle, add the onions and sauté until golden brown.

Then add the Garam Masala, stir and add the rice. Sauté for 2 minutes.

Add 3 cups of water and bring to the boil. Reduce heat, add the green peas and salt; Stir; Cover and cook in shimmer for 20 minutes or until all the water is absorbed and the rice and the peas are done.

Garnish with fried onions.

 

Kohinoor Serving Suggestion: Serve with cucumber raita (Whisk 1 cup yoghurt until smooth. Add 1/6 cup water and whisk again. Add grated cucumber to yoghurt. Add salt to taste.)
